Director of Consulting - Christopher WaltersChris specialises in European gas market development, liberalisation and regulation. He is Director of Gas Strategies Consulting, and involved in all aspects of management and business development activities. Some of his recent consulting assignments include, participation in a major study on European gas market liberalisation which looked at 25 countries and 25 companies across the region, competitor analysis for utilities operating in Europe and a quarterly report which analysed the developments of market opening across the EU. Chris has a Ph.D. in economics from King's College London.
Director of Consulting - Philip NutmanPhilip is a Director of Consulting at Gas Strategies with over twenty years experience in the oil and gas industry. An expert adviser in the gas sector, Philip has led numerous project teams of specialists, advising international companies and governments on strategy, commercial negotiations, regulation, restructuring, valuation and transactions. Previously Director in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance Energy Team, his background also includes 6 years with British Gas (gas supplies and international business development) and 4 years in the downstream oil sector with Petrofina (now Total). Philip has a degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration.
President Director - James BallJames is the co-founder of Gas Strategies and has an exceptionally wide knowledge and understanding of the international gas business, with particular interest in corporate gas strategies, emerging and liberalising gas markets, power market strategies for gas, and international LNG markets. He has advised companies, ministries and regulators senior level around the world, is an expert workshop facilitator and has worked for extensively on lender due diligence assignments. He is the author and presenter of numerous papers each year.
Managing Consultant - Robert FentonRob is a Managing Consultant at Gas Strategies and has worked principally on LNG providing advice and support to LNG producers and to leading companies in the business. His focus, in recent work, has been on strategies and business models in LNG and on risk management and business process analysis. He has 16 years experience of commercial aspects of the gas business having worked with Shell in UK and USA and on business development in Turkey, Central Asia and Mexico and on formulation of the global LNG strategy.
Managing Consultant - Patricia RobertsPat is a Managing Consultant at Gas Strategies and has been with the organization since 2005. She worked within Shell as General Manager of the Atlantic Basin LNG business, where she gained specialist expertise in structuring and completing large, complex commercial deals in LNG involving foreign governments and joint venture IOC partners. Overall, Pat has 28 years of commercial experience in the gas industry and has also worked extensively in international oil trading and corporate planning. 10 years of her experience has been in the LNG commercial area, spread over a variety of projects in the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East, Europe and North America. During this time she has worked in very different business environments with differing investment climates.
Managing Consultant - Trevor TurnerTrevor is a Managing Consultant at Gas Strategies. He has over thirty years experience as a managing director, energy specialist, management consultant and power engineer within the global gas and power industry.
Managing Consultant - David DruryDavid is a Managing Consultant with Gas Strategies. He specializes in international LNG markets and gas projects. Recently he has led a number of major LNG due diligence projects acting as the commercial and market advisor to the lenders to Egypt LNG, RasGas, and Sakhalin Energy. David is a member of Royal Society of Chemistry and Institute of Petroleum. He has also completed PMD Programme from Harvard Business School. He joined Gas Strategies after an extensive career with BP where he managed BP’s re-entry into Algeria in the early 90’s, and set up and chaired In Salah Gas - the joint gas marketing company established by BP and Sonatrach to market Algerian gas in Europe. |

Harry Cavill - Harry specialises in all aspects of inter-fuel competition between oil, gas and coal, including the economics and commercial arrangements for refining and processing, transportation, logistics, marketing and pricing.
Bill Cox - Bill is a senior commercial manager with experience of project development, strategic planning, and negotiations in the gas and power sectors in the UK and around the rest of the world. Most recently he has been the commercial advisor to the West Africa Gas Pipeline project.
John Elkins - John is a specialist in peak demand and supply analysis and forecasting. John spent thirty years with British Gas in a variety of central planning activities. He was closely involved with UK supply/demand forecasting and associated planning issues, and was part of the British Gas team set up to market gas through the Interconnector to the Continental Europe.
Peter Flowerday - Peter has a wide-ranging background in economics, the technicalities of oil and gas production and transportation. Peter spent five years co-ordinating business development in Central Europe for Conoco and Esso. Earlier he led negotiations for the sale of UKCS gas.
Bob Handley - Bob's expertise include strategies to exploit and develop natural gas markets, production sharing agreements with particular reference to gas, hydrocarbon resource appraisal/evaluation and gas transportation and storage. At Conoco, he worked on all phases of hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation.
Didier Legros - Didier had many years’ experience in driving a medium-sized energy trading and retail gas marketing business through the market deregulation process, and in managing organisation change moving into a fully competitive market environment, which he gained while MD of Elf Gas and Power.
Heiko Lohmann - Heiko is a journalist and market analyst, principally providing information to the German energy information portal Energate, for whom he writes daily news on the German and Austrian gas market. In addition he prepares a weekly market report on the Bunde/Emden and the TTF market including price reporting.
Mike Madden - Mike specialises in gas transportation issues, having worked in the management team in BG Transco, in commercial, technical and management areas of the UK gas industry. He has been involved in the development of Third Party Access from its early beginnings to the present day.
Sandy McNay - Sandy is an expert in the field of hydrocarbon transportation by sea. His particular specialism is the technical, commercial and contractual aspects of LNG transportation. He has previous involvement in LNG projects in Australia, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Nigeria and Alaska and is experienced in the creation and negotiation of SPAs for LNG projects.
David Pearce - David is a specialist in corporate gas strategy, especially LNG, and a professional scenario planning facilitator. He joined from Shell International Gas, where he was Director Business Development, Russia, Far East and Australasia, working in many areas of Shell’s business and on all upstream aspects of gas supply.
Zuzana Princova - Zuzana has particular expertise in the gas industries in Central Europe. She specialises in supply and demand, and with her insight into the geopolitics of these countries can provide analysis and scenarios for industry entrants and investors. She provides strategic advice on gas industry privatisations and diversification strategies.
Chris Rinaldi - Chris has over 27 years of business experience spanning both the gas and telecommunication industries at Director level with a track record in leading and managing multi-disciplined teams to deliver business results in complex and demanding environments.
Rob Shepherd - Rob is an expert in LNG, industry and regulatory structures across the world, and the future of UK gas markets. He managed BP’s share of the North West Shelf LNG project in Australia, and played a leading role in BP’s UK gas business, BP’s move into direct gas marketing, and BP’s share of the Qatar LNG project.
Clare Spottiswoode - Clare combines specialist gas knowledge with a strong entrepreneurial background. She remains particularly interested in the workings of competitive markets, following five years as Director General of Gas Supply in Great Britain, and periods with Enron and PA Consulting. She is non-executive Chairman of Gas Strategies Group Limited.
Richard Towers - Richard is a very experienced pipeline gas purchase and sales negotiator, especially with respect to UK North Sea supplies. He is comfortable with all aspects of gas purchase contracts and Expert determination work. He specialises in working with small teams on highly strategic tasks.
Gay Wenban-Smith - Gay has interests in the commercial/strategic side of European gas activities. She worked for many years with British Gas on a wide range of corporate planning, marketing and contracting activities, including purchasing gas from the North Sea and Norway, and marketing gas in Europe for sale through the Interconnector.
